Welcome

My Philosophy

Each of us at different times in our life may feel alone, uncertain of which way to go, or even lost. Our response often is to become hard on others, ourselves, or both. We need to be softer, kinder and gentler. We need instead to be hard on the problem. Plain and simple…life can be very hard. By asking a variety of non-judgmental questions and working with you toward the answers, I will help you better understand the problem(s), decide on the best solution, and chart a course for a new, happier and holistic self.

I have lived a full life of "mountains and valleys." I have experienced separation, parenting, power-sharing, and other issues, not only from years as a lecturer and student, but also from over 50 years of life experience around the world.

My philosophy of solution focused therapy can be summarized in the below “10 Points.”

Solution Focused

        1-5 sessions

Compassion

        For your hurt & pain

Holism

        Health of your mind, body & soul

Balance in Life

        How to find the still point

Gender

        Respect for how women and men think, feel, and act differently

Emotions

        Need for your hurts, fears, sadness and loneliness to be heard

External Factors

        How external factors influence life

Power-Sharing

        Sharing the “driving” in relationships

Attachment

        Our need for secure emotional connection. “Am I valued and

        respected?”

Letting Go

        Learning how to forgive and move on.

There is much hope! A research study cited by the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) discovered that of clients who recently received treatment from a marriage and family therapist:

    • Almost 90% reported an improvement in their emotional health;

    • Almost 67% reported an improvement in their overall physical health;

    • Over 75% of couples recognized a positive progression in their couple

      relationship, and that their children’s behavior improved in 73% of

      cases. Also, there was improvement in their children’s performance

      at school and their ability to positively interact with other children.
